Deering Boston 5 String BanjoThe Boston banjo makes playing easier because the banjo works with you, not against you! The first of the Deering Banjo line, the Boston is named to acknowledge the people of Boston who produced many fine banjos in the earlier part of the last century. For parking lot pickin the Boston rings out loud and clear! The Boston provides exceptional tone, which is far superior to the tone of die cast brass tone rings or aluminum rims. The Boston rim rings like a bell because of the weight, density and hardness of the steel. The 24 piece flange and 316 steel rim give you a very bright, sparkling, crisp tone. The thick steel rim which is unique to the Deering line, produces a sound similar to a bronze tone ring at a more affordable price. The massive strength of the steel rim allows the head to be tightened as tight as desired. Banjos with aluminum and soft wood pots are not strong enough to handle the tight head tension that is crucial for the beautiful banjo tone that every player wants. The 24 piece flange design also allows you to convert this banjo to open back by removing the flange pieces and resonator. The Boston has an adjustable mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard, mother of pearl dot inlays and a satin finish. The guitar style tuners provide a 61 gear ratio for accuracy in tuning and the 11 diameter rim is the standard size that all popular heads are made to fit.
