Gibson Nikki Sixx Thunderbird IV BassLegendary Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx is known as much for his superior playing ability as he is for his longtime love of the Thunderbird IV...a genuine tribute to one of rocks most iconic bass players. The first collaboration between Gibson and Sixx the Gibson Blackbird was released almost 10 years ago, and enjoyed immense popularity from both players and fans alike. The new model, however, is poised to take it to the next level. Just like all the thunderbirds since 1963, the updated Nikki Sixx Signature Model Thunderbird IV carries on the tradition of neck through body construction, long noted for its exceptional strength and stability. A solid center made from mahogany and walnut his personal choice of woods is anchored by two figured AA grade maple wings, and given an exclusive Satin Black Cherry finish and a mirrored pickguard embellished with Sixxs signature and a pair of Xs in red. Those same Xs also act as fret markers along the ebony fingerboard, and the neck gets Gibsons traditional Thunderbird rounded profile. The Nikki Sixx Signature Model Thunderbird IV is also equipped with Gibsons TB plus ceramic magnet humbuckers with black covers, which deliver a powerful, rumbling bass tone, just like Sixxs own massive bass lines, and a custom Nikki Sixx designed opti Grab bracket near the bridge that he uses to hold the bass while roaming the monster Crue stage. Finished in redblack chrome and each bass comes with its own custom red and black snakeskin case. Close...
